The medical field is one of the fastest growing job markets in Pennsylvania. This industry shows no sign of it slowing down in the near future. As Pennsylvania’s population ages, there is a need for more and more trained medical professionals who are able to serve. McCann School of Business and Technology offers four programs related to healthcare and medical offices that are tailored towards training medical personnel to fill a variety of essential positions.
Our medical assisting program is offered at our Dickson City, Hazleton, Pottsville, Sunbury, and Allentown locations. We offer clinical assistant training in Pennsylvania and prepares students to become clinical medical assistants, administrative medical assistants or medical office managers. They learn the basic skills needed to perform both administrative and clinical skills through hands-on experience and training. They can obtain employment in entry-level positions in doctor’s offices, medical clinics, hospitals and other medical facilities. The Medical Assisting Program is an Associate’s Degree that can be completed in two years.
Our Pennsylvania medical office technology school is located at our Dickson City, Hazleton, Pottsville, and Sunbury campuses. This program is an Associate’s Degree program that concentrates on the administrative and office skills needed to become a medical administrative assistant, medical or executive secretary, medical office manager, medical office assistant, billing specialist, medical transcriber, medical records specialist or a medical receptionist.
Students learn medical terminology, how to read and interpret case histories, document formatting and medical record translation. The courses concentrate on gaining competency and working knowledge of many medical software programs and computer technology used in today’s modern medical offices.
Our Pennsylvania Medical Billing & Coding program is offered at our Dickson City, Hazleton, Pottsville, and Sunbury campuses and concentrates solely on the essential tasks of medical coding and bill submission to insurance companies. With insurance companies and government agencies examining medical bills and requests, Medical Billing & Coding is one of the fastest growing careers in the healthcare industry.
Medical coders and billers are vital to the success of their offices, and a good one is in high demand. They can work in any medical office, and some even work freelance from their own homes. Graduates from our Pennsylvania Medical Billing & Coding program can work in one of the most lucrative telecommuting jobs available in today’s market.
We offer medical office assistant programs at all of our campuses. Students are trained for entry-level administrative positions in medical offices. Graduates from the Medical Office Assistant program may enter the job market as medical office support personnel, medical secretaries, and medical receptionists, or they can opt to continue their education by enrolling in our Pennsylvania Medical Assisting Program to obtain their Associate’s Degree.
