The Associate in Specialized Business Degree in Accounting program provides training for those who are seeking entry-level careers in accounting and bookkeeping. Graduates who receive the proper accounting education will encounter opportunities for advancement to professional levels. Accountants must be skilled at working quickly and accurately with numbers figures. They should also be able to concentrate on minor details. Students of the Associate’s Degree in Accounting program will gain important knowledge of the accounting processes used in different governmental, service and manufacturing environments. They also obtain the necessary skills needed to operate computerized accounting systems that utilize new, technologically based accounting methods. The curriculum is aligned with the national standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), teaching critical content for those students who may wish to continue on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
