Early Childhood Education
The growing field of early childhood education includes many different job opportunities. Regardless of the position you seek, if you are considering a degree in early childhood education, you should enjoy children and have a strong desire to help them learn and succeed. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects favorable growth in the early childhood education field over the next ten years. As Baby Boomer teachers retire and school enrollment increases, the need for educators and child care workers will increase as well which is why at McCann School of Business & Technology we prepare our graduates for entry-level position as teaching assistants, child care givers, and even some administrative positions.
As an early childhood education major, you might enjoy a variety of career options after you graduate. Professionals may work with children of different age groups, depending on their specialty; the age range covered usually goes from birth to age 8 or so (third grade). An early childhood education major enjoys the opportunity for employment in a field that dramatically shapes and influences the lives of children. Early childhood educators enjoy teaching and are capable of teaching skills using a variety of instructional methods. They are flexible, and enjoy an autonomous work environment. Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:
- Provide individualized classroom instruction to children and instruct young students using the teacher’s lesson plan
- Assist and supervise students in both a public or private classroom setting
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment that is both encouraging and uplifting for young students
- Follow the instruction guidelines and time-tested practices used for working with, caring for, and educating infants, toddlers, and early-school-age children
- Provide care, assistance and support for students with special needs or learning disabilities
- Learn how to tailor lesson plans to fit the needs of individual students or a particular class
Our degree-training program teaches students how to effectively educate and influence young children. Our classes help students develop positive, encouraging and accommodating teaching techniques that can be used in a variety of learning environments. Students are taught that young children can be somewhat fragile and impressionable. This is why it is crucial for early childhood education specialists to remain positive, cheerful, helpful and empathetic at all times. Despite the growing influence of technology-based education tools in the academic field, many early childhood development-teaching methods have remained effective, even after several decades.
The McCann School of Business and Technology’s Early Childhood Education program training is available at four of our campus locations in the state of Pennsylvania, which includes Dickson City, Hazleton, Pottsville, and Sunbury. At each of our schools, we teach students the many different lessons that they must know to find entry level careers in the early childhood education and development field.
Early Childhood Education training classes teach students the many different facets of this field, including the different ways in which children’s intellectual maturity develops – emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively. Professional educators are trained to positively influence young children during this crucial stage of their educations.
