Diploma Program Respiratory Therapy
Available at Sunbury

The Respiratory Therapy training program provides school students with the educational background in managing, controlling, and treating the problems associated with cardiopulmonary disease. School students acquire necessary medical knowledge and participate in comprehensive classes and training courses that train them in respiratory disorders and other cardiopulmonary disorders. They also receive instruction in respiratory care procedures. Graduates admitted to course programs who possess a Letter of Review from the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC) are eligible to sit for the NBRC CRT and RRT credentialing examinations. They may also seek entry-level employment in physician offices, clinics, laboratories, hospitals, group practices, specialty practices, health insurance offices, and nursing homes.

Respiratory therapists, or respiratory therapy technicians who complete the proper medical training diploma program are able to administer respiratory assistance to patients who may possess cardiopulmonary or breathing conditions or disorders. Our courses will teach students to follow the precise care procedures that are required to practice in the medical field.

Our respiratory therapy training program includes comprehensive certification courses in math, physics, human anatomy, pharmacology, human physiology, chemistry and microbiology. Students will also be fully trained in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, medical equipment and physical test implementation. They will become immersed with patient assessment, care, pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, first aid techniques and CPR, record maintenance and clinical guidelines.

Our school’s standard respiratory therapy training teaches students the necessary skills and abilities that are required for working with pressurized gases. Students are taught about the many safety precautions that must be carried out when dealing with dangerous materials. They will also learn how to care for and maintain health equipment.

Many graduates are able to immediately find career positions in medical and surgical hospitals. However, many states require students who have completed a respiratory therapy training program to earn professional certifications before they are employed.
