Respiratory Therapy
The practice of Respiratory Care is an ever-expanding medical profession specializing in the treatment of cardiopulmonary patients ranging from premature newborns to geriatric patients; from critically-ill patients to the treatment and evaluation of patients with chronic pulmonary disorders.
Program
At McCann School of Business & Technology our respiratory therapy program provides students with the educational background in managing, controlling and treating the problems associated with cardiopulmonary disease. Students acquire necessary medical knowledge and participate in comprehensive courses, laboratory components, and clinical rotations, which train them in cardiopulmonary disorders. To become proficient in the Respiratory therapy profession, students will be educated and evaluated using the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains of learning. Students who complete the associate degree program are able to administer respiratory assistance to patients who possess cardiopulmonary disorders. Our courses will teach students to follow the precise procedures that are required to practice in the medical field.
Accreditation
The program is currently under a Letter of Review by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Upon graduation the student is eligible to take the national board certification examinations (C.R.T. and R.R.T) given by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
