McCann Hosts Career Day Event for High School Students
Pottsville, PA. (10/10/16) – The Pottsville Campus of McCann School of Business & Technology hosted a Career Day event on Friday, October 7th. The event, which was attended by the Pottsville, Pine Grove, Schuylkill Haven, Tamaqua and Tri-Valley school districts as well as Gillingham Charter School had approximately 80 high school seniors in attendance. During the event, community business leaders were invited to discuss careers within their industry, future job growth and the educational path toward that end. Mark Weiderhold, Controller with Cougle’s Recycling Inc. was joined by Vanessa Mihoda, Communications Director for the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce to talk to students about careers in Business. Audra Grabowski, Office Manager with Dr. Kimmel’s Office spoke about careers in the Allied Health field while McCann Admissions Director, Amelia Hopkins, played a medical trivia game with students. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper David Beohm and Tom Kowalski, HR for SCI Frackville and Mahanoy, joined Criminal Justice Program Director Dale Repp, to promote careers in the Legal and Criminal Justice fields. Frank Carroll, Manager, Network Systems with Mrs. T’s Pierogies joined IT Program Director Shawn Brennan to promote careers in the field of Network Administration. Donna Bowen, McCann MT Program Director, promoted Massage Therapy while Tim Brady, McCann Trade Program Director, demonstrated the principles of electricity by “cooking” a hot dog with electrical current. He also provided soldering technique demonstrations.
