McCann Offering Free Welding Workshop in Hazleton, PA
April is National Welding Month.
Most counties across Pennsylvania report welding jobs in-demand and available for those skilled and certified in welding. Welders are literally what holds much of the state’s commerce, industry and products together.
McCann School of Business & Technology would like to recognize and thank the critical work these individuals provide to America’s infrastructure and economy.
“McCann School of Business & Technology has been around for over 120 years providing training for in demand careers in our community,” said Bill Burke, Hazleton campus director. “We certainly understand and appreciate the need for skilled welders in our area.”
Many may not realize the various career paths afforded by a welding specialization. Jobs in this profession include but are not limited to materials engineer, robotics technician, structural iron worker, sheet metal worker, underwater welder, welding educator, metallurgist, pipefitters and boilermakers.
According to the American Welding Society, the availability of welding jobs are on the rise because the pool of skilled workers is shallow and those who are in the field now are set to retire.
Combine this with potential new federal infrastructure funding being considered in Washington, D.C., and continued new natural gas and other resource development in Pennsylvania, and there is expected to be a need for more trained welding professionals.
In honor of National Welding Month, McCann is offering a free welding workshop Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the McCann Hazleton Campus, 370 Maplewood Drive, Humboldt Industrial Park, Hazle Township.
“With the high demand for welders in the area, we wanted to take this opportunity to open up our lab to anyone interested in learning more,” Burke added.
