What You’ll Learn in Our Medical Laboratory Technician Program

This program will train you to enter the medical field as an important member of a medical team. With your specialized training, you’ll be able to provide physicians with the information necessary to make accurate medical diagnoses.

Below is a list of some of the exciting classes you’ll take in our Medical Laboratory Technician program:

  • Medical Terminology: In this course, you will learn the structure of medical terms, including their roots, prefixes and suffixes. With this information you’ll learn how to determine the meaning of unknown medical terms and effectively communicate with Healthcare Practitioners.
  • Anatomy and Physiology I & II: This two part course will teach you the different systems of the human body, including the skeletal, nervous and respiratory systems, and how they are affected by disease. 
  • Intro to Chemistry and Medical Laboratory Technology: This course will cover basic chemistry techniques as well as the use of laboratory instruments and technology. With this information you will be able to navigate a medical lab and will be prepared to learn more complex laboratory procedures.

Toward the end of your laboratory training you’ll be required to participate in a Medical externship. This externship will give you the opportunity to work in a medical lab honing your skills and gaining the work experience needed to find a position in the field.
